Matt Teale is a British freelance broadcast journalist.
Teale was part of ITV Central's sports team where he and Sarah Jane Mee covered the sports news for the flagship magazine programme Central Tonight.
Teale was reporter for many sports stories for the Region and became reporter for various reports within Central's football magazine shows.
Teale covered his last sports report for Central Tonight in November before he became a presenter on Setanta Sports News when the channel launched on 29 November 2007. He presented the 15:00-19:00 slot weekdays, with Rachel Brookes, until the channel ceased broadcasting in June 2009.
In August 2009, it was announced that Teale would take over from veteran newscaster Alastair Stewart as co-presenter of London Tonight.[1] He made his debut on 25 August 2009 as a relief presenter, and as main co-presenter from 7 September 2009. On 17 March 2010, ITN announced that Donal MacIntyre was replacing Teale on London Tonight from 6 April.[2]
Teale presents the lunchtime bulletin of the ITV News and the evening edition of London Tonight alternately on Sundays since September 2009. He has also presented the sport news on Sky News occasionally from June 2010 although since February 2011 he has regularly presented the sports news during the night on Sky World News. Matt also appears on the British Forces Broadcast Service.
In 2007, Teale was awarded the prestigious Royal Television Society Award (Nations and Regions) "Sports Presenter of the Year".
